A Banner Day

So yesterday was my first encounter with the whole crowd on the street big newsfest happening right in front of you thing, just like in the movies.

I was walking to the office from the morning train and all of a sudden, everyone was stopped and looking up.

Turns out some activists had rock-climbed their way up the Chicago Board of Trade building (right next door to my office) and dropped a big banner about deforestation of the rainforest after they reached the 23rd floor.
I don't care who you are, that's a long way up.

Here's the banner, a little closer-in (but backwards- hey, it was windy!)

So, long story short, the cops let the guys hang for a while, then they pulled them into the windows. A little anticlimactic, but still, a good start to a Wednesday!

Here's the article.
